Late last night I went out to try
and get a picture of the Milky Way Galaxy, but again unsuccessful. There is still a little too much light
leakage here and will try some other time. You can see Orion and Sisius (the bright star on the right).
We are going to spend the day at the beach instead of running around. While we are on the beach there
are a number of whales playing in the water.
Here one of them is lying on its side and has raised one of its pectoral
fins.
The whale is either waving or is
just raising one of its fins for reasons only know to this whale. It held it up for a couple of minutes.
Yet another whale with its
pectoral fin and half of its tail fluke is seen next to a small motor
boat. Boy they must be getting a good
view of the escapades of the whale.
We decided to take a break from
the whales to watch the waves. There are
some pretty big waves coming in. There
is no one around us body surfing or even wave running. There are some further down the beach and
maybe we’ll get a picture later.
I still think these flowers are
pretty. We’ve seen people from the hotel
pull some of the flowers down and bag them.
I assume they will make leis with the flowers.
This whale is on its back with
both pec fins up in the air. Wow!
Oh, oh! This is not going to end well. And yes he was bulldozed over and had to hold onto his pants.
Now these are some big
waves. I should be out there body
surfing.
This guy sliding on the water
into the surf to catch the up wave so he can flip. Here he is mid flip after catching the wave.
A whale tail flips next to a blow
from another whale.
It is now close to sunset and the
sun is beginning to get closer to the horizon.
The clouds are really interesting at this time.
The catamaran finally comes into
the frame where I wanted it. Look at the
size of the sun going down behind the island of Lanai! I love this picture.
Carmen in front of the sun before
it sets.
